The CW Releases First Photo Of Brandon Routh’s Kingdom Come Superman

There's a lot of excitement building up over the Arrowverse's Crisis On Infinite Earth's crossover. DC is bringing back some of the most iconic DC names and faces in the franchise, including Superman Returns star Brandon Routh.

Routh was once the Man of Steel, putting on the Son of Krypton's cape and tights before Warner Brothers decided to build its own interconnected comic book movie universe, the DC Extended Universe. Now, Routh is set to make an appearance in the Crisis on Infinite Earth's crossover, this time as the Superman from Kingdom Come.

The CW just recently shared the first look photo of Routh as Kingdom Come Superman with a black-and-red chest emblem on his suit.

For those who aren't familiar with the title, Kingdom Come was a comic book series written by Mark Waid and illustrated by the legendary Alex Ross. The series takes place in an alternate universe where a tragedy forces Superman to go into hiding. When Superman comes out of the shadows, however, he soon discovers that a new breed of superheroes has been making it to the public eye, and it seems like these heroes don't have the same principles that Clark Kent holds.

What's even more exciting is that Routh will also be playing his part as Ray Palmer or The Atom for Legends of Tomorrow. So really, it's 2/2 for Routh. The actor will be joined by other Supermen in the Arrowverse Crisis Crossover, and that includes Tom Welling (who's set to return as Smallville's Clark Kent) as well Tyler Hoechlin, the Superman from The CW's Supergirl series.

Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earth is premiering in December this year.
