The Boys Showrunner Discusses That Insane Season Finale and What to Expect From Season 2

The Boys is one of those shows that has managed to drift away from the comic's original story but keep its spirit. While the Amazon Prime series does make its characters more relatable and sympathetic, the amount of violence and satire has pleased hardcore fans. However, the final scene show was a shocker that no one saw coming and it's a totally different direction the comics were never able to explore.

SPOILERS FOR THE BOYS SEASON ONE

During the show's closing moments, Billy Butcher and the audience were shocked to find out that his wife Becca, thought to be deceased, is alive and well. Not only that but she has been in hiding with the child of Homelander, making fans wonder if she was actually raped or if they had consensual sex as the superhero implied.

While the show could have a huge twist coming, showrunner Eric Kripke told Collider that they plan on exploring the super-powered child revealed in the end. It's going to be really interesting to see how Butcher reacts to Becca hiding from the world and taking care of a super child.

"You have this kid who's half-human and half monster; half the person Butcher loves most in the world and half the person Butcher hates most in the world. That's just too perfect a character to not keep alive."

No release date for The Boys season 2 has been announced but we are in for one hell of a season opener. The first season can be streamed in its entirety on Amazon Prime.
