The third season of The Boys continues to entertain the viewers with its raunchy and skewering take on the superhero genre. Fortunately, the series is expected to continue to run for another year as Amazon announced recently that they have renewed it for a fourth season. Now, we know when they are going to begin production.
In a recent interview with Collider, Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, revealed that the fourth season of The Boys will begin filming this August and expressed his excitement about returning to the set and working again with his castmates.
"Yeah, we're starting I think August the 22nd, we're going to be starting season four," Urban said. "So I'm getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can't wait. It's a fun gang to play with, we work hard and play hard, and I can't wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season."
When asked if he has already read the scripts for the fourth season, Urban said that he still has not seen any of them although he is set to have a meeting with showrunner Eric Kripke soon to discuss his character's arc for the season.
"We're about two months away from filming, and I have no idea," he revealed. "So that'll tell you something, but yeah, not too far away. I mean, I expect that we'll... I'm actually going to be seeing Kripke next week and I expect conversations will start to happen about what he's got in store. I like to give them the respect of being able to do their writing process and not be harassed by actors going, "What are we doing?" But I can't wait. They always come up with insane stuff, so yeah, it's going to be fun."
It is exciting to hear that the fourth season will begin filming soon. While we don't know yet what we might expect since there's still one more episode away for the current season, at least we know that they are working hard on delivering a great fourth season that will entertain the viewers again.
Considering that Urban mentioned that he will start working on the fourth season soon, it is pretty much a confirmation that Billy Butcher will survive the events of the upcoming third season finale which is also not surprising since he is one of the leading characters. Let's just wait and see how the upcoming season finale will set up the fourth season.
