The Batman: Robert Pattinson Pushing for R-Rating for Matt Reeves Film

People are already expecting great things in The Batman considering that it's being helmed by Matt Reeves and boasts of an all-star cast. But will the new Warner Bros. film follow in the same direction as Joker? Robert Pattinson says that he wants to push the movie so far that it will get an R-rating.

Pattinson recently spoke to Empire magazine where he stated that he is hoping that The Batman will be rated R for obvious reasons (via Comicbook.com).

"The only thing that's more complicated is the rating," Pattinson said. He then added, "As soon as you make something an R-rated movie, you're freed up to do so much stuff."

This is exactly what happened for Joker. However, Pattinson believes that he also needs to go further with the character he will play.

"In terms of the character itself, I want to push it as far as it possibly can go. And I think Matt Reeves does as well. You can do crazy stuff with that part," he said.

There is little doubt that Reeves himself is also aiming to get an R-rating for the film. After all, this would mean that the director will get to pursue his vision for the highly anticipated DC movie. Luckily, the success of Joker might actually allow both Reeves and Pattinson to do exactly what they want with The Batman.

The Batman is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming soon. The movie is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
