Warner Brothers began work on The Batman last month, and everyone's eager to learn more about what Matt Reeves is bringing to the DC comic book movie universe. The director promises a dark and gritty detective noir movie with Robert Pattinson playing DC's Dark Knight and Zoe Kravitz playing the part of Selina Kyle, otherwise known as Catwoman.
Speaking in an interview with Variety, Kravitz was asked about the struggles she had to face playing Catwoman and how it's affecting her performance in The Batman. There's a whole lot of pressure for Kravitz – DC fans might love Selina Kyle, but there hasn't been a live-action version of the character that's unanimously pleased the DC fanbase.
Kravitz was asked by the entertainment news outlet whether fan expectations were affecting her work in The Batman, and while the actress does admit that she wants to honor the DC fanbase, she also needs to do her best to internalize the character.
"Of course, I want to honor the fans and hope they like what I do with the role, but in order to do what I think I need to do with Catwoman I have to go internal and forget about the rest of the world," Kravitz said.
Of course, Kravitz can only give her own interpretation of Catwoman and we're excited to see what exactly that interpretation might be. The character has evolved throughout the years, and in the most recent DC Comics Lore, Catwoman has become a romantic partner to Batman. Let's wait and see whether this pairing plays out in the upcoming DC movie.
The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
