One of the DCU films that are currently in the works is The Authority, which is slated to be the second feature on the slate following Superman: Legacy and it will also mark the titular DC team's first venture into the big screen.

So far, the project is still in development as James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently more focused on the pre-production of Superman: Legacy although there are reports that some of the members of the team might be introduced in that film.

A lot of fans are already looking forward to finding out which actors will DC Studios cast to play the members of the team. Given that the actors' strike is still happening, it might take a while before we'll hear any official announcement.

However, it looks like Gunn and Safran may have already found its cast as a recent scoop has revealed the actors who were allegedly tapped to play the members of the team.

YouTuber John Rocha claimed on The Hot Mic podcast that he heard from a source that the main ensemble for the DCU's The Authority has already been cast.

He reported that Keira Knightley (Jenny Sparks), Alexander Skarsgard (Apollo), Sam Worthington (Midnighter), Keke Palmer (Engineer), Riz Ahmed (Doctor), and Gerard Butler (Jack Hawksmoor) were cast to play the members of the team.

In addition, Ken Watanabe is set to play the villain Kaizen Gamorra and X-Men: First Class and Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn is tapped to helm the film.

However, Rocha warned his viewers to take his scoop with a grain of salt since the source that he got the information from is usually right about 60% of the time.

If this scoop ends up being true, it sounds like Gunn and Safran were able to nab a killer cast to play the members of the team since they are all talented actors who could do something special in their respective roles.

Given that The Authority is not well-known to the general audience, it is important for them to cast well-known and talented actors to play the roles which is why we're seeing these familiar names that could successfully carry it.

For now, let's wait for an official confirmation once the actors' strike is done and DC Studios is finally able to announce it unless Gunn will also debunk this in his social media account per usual.
