A recently released teaser for The Acolyte seemingly hinted at a potential major plot twist surrounding the show's main character.

The upcoming Star Wars series will focus on Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae)'s investigation of a series of crimes that were committed by his former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) during the High Republic era.

The Acolyte 'Plan' Teaser Hints at Amandla Stenberg's True Role

Lucasfilm recently released a 30-second teaser for The Acolyte titled "Plan" which gave fans a brief new look at the upcoming Star Wars series.

However, fans noticed that the teaser may have spoiled a major plot twist as they showed a scene involving Stenberg's character pleading to Sol that she didn't do any of the crimes.

The subtitle referred to Stenberg's character as Osha during the brief moment and the actress was also giving a different performance that is not in alignment with any of the Mae scenes that they showed so far.

As a result, it's been speculated by fans that Stenberg might be playing twin characters with Mae on the Dark Side and Osha on the Light Side.

The subtitle settings have since changed as it defaults back to auto-generated and there is no longer any reference to the character name.

It is likely that someone from Lucasfilm or Disney involved in the release of the trailer made the mistake of slipping the Osha name into the subtitle which led to the early spoiler revet

If the twist is indeed true, some fans might feel disappointed that the spoiler was revealed early as it would have been great to discover it while watching the series.

It is interesting to see how it all unravels as the twist adds more layers to the mystery and makes the narrative unique from the other Star Wars live-action shows.

The Acolyte will premiere on Disney+ with two episodes this June 4.
