The recently-aired episode 4 of The Acolyte introduced the new character Bazil, and fans are already loving him the moment he showed up on screen.

Since the Star Wars franchise's inception, creature characters have become standouts for many fans whether it's Grogu in The Mandalorian, Babu Frik in The Rise of Skywalker, or the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi.

The series is continuing the tradition as they've introduced a new scene-stealing creature character that will be the subject of fans' obsession similar to the other ones that have come before.

Bazil is introduced as a Tynnan tracker in episode 4 of The Acolyte. He assisted Sol and the other Jedis on their search for Kelnacca in the jungle areas of Khofar.

The character is portrayed by Hassan Taj, who played R2-D2 in The Rise of Skywalker and worked as a puppeteer in other Star Wars films.

He became an instant fan-favorite for the viewers of The Acolyte as evidenced by the social media reactions thanks to his adorable screen presence and domineering personality that made him an instant standout in his first scene alone.

Here are some of the posts and memes from fans who have shown their affection for the new character:

In an interview with StarWars.com, creature & droid FX creative supervisor Neal Scanlan explained how they brought Bazil to life.

"We spoke about those kinds of things. We thought about how we could include some of these things that were not only, you know, cute and lovable and adorable, but also showed signs of a bigger sort of character makeup. A character like this is much more engaging," he said.

"What qualities are [fans of all ages] going to see in him that they would identify with? That will only work if they feel like there's an element that they could give him a cuddle or that he's friendly. You know, it's an important part of, I think, the Star Wars world."

The character Igor from Young Frankenstein served as the main inspiration for the creation of Bazil.

It is exciting to see what else they have in store for Bazil in the upcoming episodes since it is looking like he will be on the Jedi's side throughout the action and, hopefully, he'll get to have more scene-stealing moments.

New episodes of The Acolyte premiere every Tuesday night on Disney+.
