Terrifier 2 Submitted For Consideration For Oscars 2023

People can't stop talking about Terrifier 2 because of the sheer blood and gore featured in the horror sequel. But could the slasher film actually end up being nominated for an Oscar? It has just been revealed that the Damien Leone movie has been submitted for consideration for the 95th Academy Awards!

Bloody Disgusting confirmed that Terrifier 2 has been submitted to the Oscars. The distributor revealed that several fans have requested for the sequel to be submitted for consideration for the 95th Academy Awards and interestingly, they have complied.

It's a strange (or shocking) decision for Bloody Disgusting considering that Terrifier 2 is being called the most terrifying film to date and that it has caused numerous audiences to vomit while watching the gruesome scenes. Still, the distributor had an odd reason for the submission.

"The thought of having members of the Academy endure an extreme unrated horror movie that they would otherwise consider beneath them? That’s just too hilarious of an opportunity to pass up," the report reads.

Terrifier 2 is the sequel to Damien Leone's equally scary 2016 film and it features the resurrection of Art the Clown, the antagonist in the original movie. After being resurrected, Art goes after a young girl and her brother on Halloween night.

As terrifying as it already is, there were a few scenes that proved to be too extreme for Terrifier 2. Leone told Variety that he decided not to add certain sequences.

"Art the Clown likes to play with people's entrails," he explained. "There's the scene where he cuts off a man's penis. He could have taken it further. We had conversations of things he could do once he took the guy's penis off. We explored those and joked about it, but then we said, 'No, that's way too far. That's too distasteful.'"

Terrifier 2 is still screening in theaters.
