The Terra Formars manga has been on hiatus for quite a long time. Thus, many were surprised when Young Jump announced that the Terra Formars manga is set to return after a five-year hiatus.
The manga’s return was announced with a special video that features some of the most memorable moments of the manga so far. It also confirms the manga’s official return date.
While many manga readers may have forgotten about the series already, its return is one that dedicated fans have long been waiting for.
What Happened to the Terra Formars Manga?
Terra Formars is a sci-fi horror manga by writer Yu Sasuga and illustrator Kenichi Tachibana. The series was initially serialized in Miracle Jump in 2011 before moving to Young Jump back in 2012.
Since then, the manga got seven spin-off manga, as well as a two-season anime adaptation by Liden Films, the studio behind Tokyo Revengers and the Rurouni Kenshin remake. The two seasons aired in fall 2014 and spring 2016, respectively.
Then, in December 2018, the Terra Formars manga went on an indefinite hiatus. This was due to the writer Sasuga’s health issues. As the manga went on hiatus, the anime has also not gotten a new season.
An update by illustrator Tachibana in 2021 stated that the manga would return at some point when Sasuga’s health recovers.

Terra Formars Manga Is Finally Returning after Lengthy Hiatus
That time has finally come, as the Terra Formars manga is officially coming back after its hiatus. Its return will be in Weekly Young Jump’s Issue #18 for 2024.
This means the Terra Formars manga's official return date is on April 4, 2024. To commemorate its return, the 18th Young Jump issue of 2024 will feature the series on the cover.
Copies of the magazine will also come with a special sticker.
While this news was very much welcome for dedicated fans, some are hoping that its new chapters will get an English release. After all, not all Young Jump titles are released in English through Manga Plus.
Will the Terra Formars Anime Also Get a New Season? Our Predictions
As it has been eight years since the last anime season, the chances of a new Terra Formars anime season aren’t high.
Of course, with the manga’s upcoming return, there’s a possibility that a new season will be produced at some point in the future. Even if it does though, it’ll likely be years before it gets released.
