Taron Egerton broke the internet earlier this month after confirming that he's had negotiations with Marvel Studios about potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Welsh actor is one of the fan favorites to play Wolverine in the franchise and his surprising confirmation pretty much fueled speculation that he's set to take over the Logan role from Hugh Jackman.
However, it looks like fans shouldn't be getting their hopes up as the 32-year-old star is now claiming that there's no truth to the rumors that he's been cast as the claw-clashing and cigar-smoking mutant in the billion-dollar franchise.
Taron clarified that while he did in fact have talks with Marvel, the said negotiations took place around four years ago and his previous statement was taken completely out of context. Appearing on SiriusXM's Sway in the Morning, the Kingsman and Rocketman star said: "I made the mistake of saying that I had had a general meeting with at Marvel around four years ago, which is true. But it got kind of spun and twisted into this thing."

As it stands, Kevin Feige has yet to reveal his actual plans for the mutants but according to new reports, a Fox contract situation is preventing the studio from announcing something concrete. To put it simply, Fox's X-Men actors are still bound by a contract and it's up to the studio whether or not they would use them for the reboot.
Well, seeing as Marvel Studios still hasn't confirmed anything, it looks like they're eyeing new actors for the project, and frankly, that's how it should be.
