What Is Suzume About?
Suzume revolves around a 17-year-old girl named Suzume whose journey kickstarts in a quiet town in Kyushu.
She comes across a young man named Souta who tells her that he is looking for a door.
What Suzume sees is a lone door standing upright in the middle of the ruins as if it were protected from a catastrophe. The door pulls Suzume toward it and she reaches for its knob.
Later, doors start to open one after another across Japan, unleashing massive destruction upon anyone who is near.
Now, it is upon Suzume to close these portals to stop further destruction of the land. Inside the realm, it appears as if time is merging with the sky.
Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, a variety of challenges await Suzume on her adventure.
Drawn in by these mystical doors, Suzume starts her journey into the unknown.
Where to Watch Suzume Online
As of writing, Suzume will be exclusively available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Previously, the anime movie was released by Crunchyroll in US theaters in April 2023.
Crunchyroll distributed the movie in several regions, and Suzume is now streaming on Crunchyroll for its subscribers.
The streaming giant has teamed with Sony Pictures Entertainment to distribute the movie in Latin America, South America, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, parts of Europe, and Africa.
Sony Pictures, Wild Bunch International, and Sony Pictures are set to distribute Suzume in German and French-speaking regions of Europe.
When Will Suzume Be Released on Crunchyroll?
Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will begin streaming Suzume on November 16, 2023. As such, here are the anime movie's streaming times for various international regions:
- Pacific Time: 5:00 PM (November 16, 2023)
- Central Time: 7:00 PM (November 16, 2023)
- Eastern Time: 8:00 PM (November 16, 2023)
- London Time: 1:00 AM (November 17, 2023)
Makoto Shinkai, who is also the original creator of the story, directed and wrote the screenplay of Suzume.
Kazuma Jinnouchi and RADWIMPS are credited for composing the music of the movie while the character design is handled by Masayoshi Tanaka.
Kenichi Tsuchiya is the animation director while the art director is Takumi Tanji. The anime movie is produced by CoMix Wave Films.
