Superman Fans Mourn Passing of Director Richard Donner

The entire film and entertainment industry is mourning the passing of prolific filmmaker Richard Donner who passed away yesterday at the age of 91.

One of the most celebrated directors in Hollywood, Donner's most notable filmmaking credits include The Goonies and Lethal Weapon but to a lot of comic book film fans, he will always be known as the man behind the Superman film franchise starring Christopher Reeve, having directed the first three films. According to a report from Deadline, no cause of death has been revealed by his family.

Unsurprisingly, Donner's passing sent shockwaves within the entertainment industry and left a lot of people heartbroken. The director's life and accomplishments were remembered not only by his peers and colleagues but as well as his legions of fans the world over.

Donner is widely regarded by comic book fans as a trailblazer and it can't be denied that his Superman films made us believe in superheroes. It's a tremendous loss for the industry but Richard's legacy will surely live on for more years to come.
