Superman Actor Henry Cavill Jumps Ship to the MCU as Captain Britain in Epic Art

A lot of you may not be familiar with him but a character named Captain Britain exists in the Marvel Universe. Somewhat serving as Steve Rogers' British counterpart, Brian Braddock doesn't exactly share the same backstory as the star-spangled hero who got his powers after participating in the super-soldier program.

Unlike Rogers who is a mere mortal, Braddock is actually part human and part outworlder who got his powers after obtaining the Amulet of Right following a horrific motorcycle accident. The character has gained a strong following through the years and a lot of his fans have been wondering when Captain Britain will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe or if he could be joining at all.

Rumors emerged earlier this week that Marvel Studios is developing a Captain Britain project and according to a scoop from insider Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), the studio is eyeing Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill to become the MCU's version of Brian Braddock. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed yet so take this one with a huge grain of salt.

Now, to rev up the hype engine and get the fanfare going, digital artist, Arkin Tyagi has unveiled his marvelous Captain Britain fan art on Instagram featuring The Witcher actor. Unsurprisingly, it works well (maybe because Henry is British) and I feel like Cavill would be a phenomenal choice to portray the character. Check it out here:

I gotta say, should the casting rumors be true, it'll take a lot of getting used to considering Cavill's name has been synonymous with the DC Extended Universe. Heck, his take on Superman pretty much kickstarted the franchise back in 2013 so it'll be weird to see him jump ship to the Marvel Universe.

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill will appear in Zack Snyder's 4-hour Justice League film, premiering this March on HBO Max.
