The whole world is buzzing following the onstage altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards described as "the slap that was heard around the world". For the uninitiated, during the comedian's monologue, he cracked a "G.I. Jane" joke at Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith who was suffering from Alopecia, an autoimmune condition that sees a person rapidly lose their hair.

Noticing that Jada was taken aback by the joke, the 53-year-old actor quickly stormed the stage and slapped Chris, after which dropped a series of F-bombs all caught on camera much to the shock of everyone in attendance and the worldwide audience.

It was a bittersweet night for Will who took home the Best Actor trophy for his performance in King Richard. During his acceptance speech, the Suicide Squad and Men in Black star addressed the violence that occurred earlier in the show, and while he did take the opportunity to apologize to the Academy and his colleagues, he surprisingly left out Rock.

In his tearful speech, Smith said "art imitates life" and "love will make you do crazy things."

People had mixed reactions to the shocking incident and understandably so. While many believe Chris crossed the line with his inappropriate joke that made Jade feel uncomfortable, Will is also drawing a lot of criticism for losing his cool at the awards ceremony of all places. As it stands, Rock made it clear that he isn't filing any charges against Smith despite what could've been a pretty traumatic occurrence.

Meanwhile, Smith is reportedly in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
