Netflix’s Stranger Things is undeniably one of the most popular shows around the globe right now. Each of its cast members is famous in their own right, but Sadie Sink has a noticeable fandom that completely adores her after assuming the role of Max Mayfield.
Sitting down with Jimmy Kimmel, Sink narrated that she was a huge fan of the show's first season and all of her friends were watching it, so when she got the role of Max, she knew she had to lie about one thing.
“I was in the audition process for Max and I think I had done four callbacks, did the screen test and then I found out that I got the role. They sent a skateboard to my house the next day and I had to learn how to do that. I said I had rollerblading experience, which is just a lie,” she recalled.
Rollerblading was an integral part of Max’s personality, so for some fans, it’s quite shocking to know that the Fear Street star didn’t have any prior experience before flexing her skating skills.
Sink said, “I had no idea how to do it and I really didn't like it, because the first day I took a pretty hard fall and it just set a bad tone for the entire journey,"
Despite only joining in the second season, Max immediately captured the viewers' hearts given her cool and charming aura. In the history of cinema and television, Sink is not the only one who has had to lie to land a role, so it’s no big deal. After all, she still managed to slay her rollerblade routines, given her initiative to practice and practice.
In the fourth season of Stranger Things, fans saw Sink’s remarkable acting skills as she delivered one of the most emotional scenes in the series. Following her continuous fame and recognition, Sink has started to also dwell on some other bigger and more challenging roles.
Sink is currently starring alongside Brendan Fraser in an upcoming movie called The Whale that marks the return of Fraser to the big screens following years of absence. The film is expected to bag some Oscar for its storyline and lead performance.
Stranger Things Season 5 is slated for a 2024–2025 release.
