Stranger Things Creators Tease a Hawkins Gang Reunion for Season 5

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4.

After several delays due to shooting location conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic, fans have finally witnessed Stranger Things Season 4's epic conclusion. The latest season follows the Hawkins gang's separate adventure to prevent Vecna from taking over Hawkins. In comparison to previous seasons, Season 4's conclusion was entirely different as it was the first time ever that the main characters lost, and their city now suffers the consequences of their defeat. However, now that the Hawkins gang has reunited in the ending, can they really stop Vecna in the approaching finale?

In a recent interview with Collider, showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that Season 5 would reunite the Hawkins gang together and would no longer function in separate groups like in Season 4. More amazingly, Eleven and the core group of boys, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will will recreate the iconic dynamic from Season One.

"I think one of the things that's exciting about Season 5 is [that] Season 4 was interesting to us because everyone was scattered to the winds," Matt said. "That's what was unique about it. But this is about everyone finally coming back. Coming back together, coming back to Hawkins. Hopper is back in Hawkins. The original group [is] back together—the original group of boys plus Eleven. The OG group. There's something interesting to re-explore some of the Season 1 dynamics again, except on this grander scale."

Of course, after Season 4's touching conclusion that sees the Hawkins gang back together, fans have already expected that all of them will now go against Vecna to take back Hawkins. Considering that it's the finale, the Duffer Brothers' decision to reunite the OG group of boys together with Eleven and reexplore the roots of the show totally makes sense not just for the plot, but also for the audience's satisfaction. Of course, if they are going to plot a final battle with Vecna, fans have already envisioned that it's the core characters who would overthrow the villain from Hawkins.

All episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 are now available to stream on Netflix.
