Sophie Thatcher, fresh off the spectacular first season of Showtime's Yellowjackets, has landed a role in Rob Savage's (Host) upcoming Stephen King adaption, The Boogeyman.

Savage will adapt King's short novel The Boogeyman for Hulu and 20th Century Studios, and Thatcher will star with Chris Messina (Birds of Prey), according to Deadline.

Thatcher's next role, it appears, will require her to draw on some of her Yellowjackets horror experience.

What is The Boogeyman All About?

The Boogeyman will be the third adaptation of King's short story about a father recounting to his therapist how a malevolent spirit killed his children while he was grieving for his wife's death.

The story was originally published in The Night Shift, a collection of 20 short stories, 10 of which have been made into films. Among the others are Children of the Corn, Maximum Overdrive, The Mangler, and Sometimes They Come Back.

Although audiences may be familiar with the King of Horror's work, it will be interesting to see what fresh perspective Thatcher and the rest of the ensemble can bring to this new adaptation.

The Boogeyman is being produced by 21 Laps, the production studio best known for Stranger Things. Despite the fact that the picture was made for Fox, it will now be released on Hulu. The Boogeyman is set to begin filming next month, according to reports.

Where to Watch Sophie Thatcher

Thatcher rose to fame as the teenage Natalie in Showtime's Yellowjackets, which premiered in November 2021. The drama series, which follows a high school ladies soccer team after a plane crash leads to cannibalism, combines the horror and thriller genres, and it soon propelled its younger players into the spotlight, including Thatcher.

Following her success in Yellowjackets, Thatcher starred in The Book of Boba Fett as Drash, the head of a crew of cyborgs who work for Boba Fett.

Meanwhile, Messina had a jam-packed 2021, beginning with the Netflix movie I Care a Lot. His film Call Jane, which stars Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver, opened at Sundance earlier this month. Next up for him is the Starz Watergate drama Gaslit, in which he co-stars with Sean Penn and Julia Roberts.
