Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Writer Explains One of Rey’s Biggest Force Mysteries

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might suppose to be the third and final chapter in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy, but it looks like the movie's drawing a whole lot of attention online.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly,The Rise of Skywalker co-writer Lawrence Kasdan has decided to discuss a few details about the upcoming film, especially about Rey (Daisy Ridley). The Jakku Orphan might be the heroine of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, however, there's still a whole lot of mystery surrounding Rey.

In his discussion with Entertainment Weekly, Kasdan has decided to explain one of the most controversial Rey moments in Star Wars: The Force Awakens – how exactly was Rey able to summon Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill) lightsaber from a trained Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)?

"Rey is full of the Force — you know that pretty early on," he said, saying that the signs had already been there, "We've seen other demonstrations that she did earlier in the movie that she has in her. You know she's not unimportant."

According to Kasdan, the reason why the saber flights right into Rey's hands is because it's meant to be there.

"The saber flies into her hand because it belongs in her hand. While the secret to Kylo is that he's massively insecure. He wants to be Darth II, but he isn't because he's very conflicted about everything he wants," the Star Wars writer explains.

It's an interesting proposition. The saber eventually does find its place together with Rey as the sequel trilogy moves along.

What do you think of Luke's blue lightsaber being meant for Rey? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
