Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Will Explore Rey And Kylo Ren's Relationship

We all have questions that we hope will finally be answered in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, right? Luckily for fans who have been hoping to get a clear explanation about the relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren, everything could finally be revealed in Episode IX.

There is little doubt that there is some strange connection between Rey and Kylo Ren right from the start. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the two were inexplicably drawn to each other, something that was expanded on in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. So it's no surprise that The Rise of Skywalker co-writer Chris Terrio has told Empire that the exchanges between the two Force users will be even more intriguing later this year.

"Some of the most interesting scenes in The Last Jedi are the conversations between Rey and Ren," he said. "We've tried to pick up that complicated relationship that really has been present ever since the interrogation in Episode VII."

So what makes the connection between the two so interesting? Terrio says it has a lot to do with how Rey is able to tap into Kylo in a way no other character can.

"When Ren takes off his mask, there's a nakedness about him with Rey that he doesn't express to anyone else. Rian developed that in fascinating ways and we've been able to develop it even further," he said.

I'm not sure what he means by that but I'm hoping that both characters will get a satisfying story arc in The Rise of Skywalker. It's always seemed like their story is intertwined and after two Star Wars films, I'm hoping that it will all end with something that nobody has theorized just yet.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20.
