There is much excitement after the first trailer and official title of Star Wars Episode IX have been revealed. However, there is one thing that seems to be missing from the teaser. Could this mean that fans can expect that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be set for an earlier release date?

The teaser for Rise of Skywalker certainly gave fans a lot of what they were hoping for. There's an amazing opening sequence where Rey faces off against a TIE Fighter, Kylo Ren in action (and actually fixing his broken helmet), and even a quick glimpse at Billy Dee Williams piloting the Millennium Falcon as Lando Calrissian.

It's hard not to get emotional while watching Rey embrace General Leia Organa or seeing what appears to be the ruins of Death Star II. In fact, the trailer concludes with something nobody expected: The unmistakable laugh of Emperor Palpatine.

Interestingly, the teaser had a lot of things missing. We don't see Luke Skywalker or the Knights of Ren. In addition to that, the new character played by Naomi Ackie is nowhere in sight. However, the biggest thing that seems to be absent from the trailer is the film's actual release date.

For now, Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20. On the other hand, that information appears to be missing from the teaser. Needless to say, fans are hoping that this means that Disney and Lucasfilm are weighing the options of releasing The Rise of Skywalker a week earlier.

If Episode IX does end up getting an earlier premiere, this wouldn't be the first time that Disney moved an expected major blockbuster to a better release date. After all, this was previously done with Avengers: Endgame. An early release could mean that the holidays will be sooner than expected. However, this is still based on speculations so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is still scheduled for release on December 20.
