Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Theory Suggests That Rey is Actually Possessed by Palpatine

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might have served as the culmination of the entire Skywalker saga, however, the focus on fan-service ended up turning the film into one of the most divisive entries in the Star Wars franchise.

Instead of offering a powerful and meaningful end to the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker provided even more controversy and backlash to the Star Wars franchise. Hoping to add a little spice to the film, a Star Wars fan on Reddit offers a theory suggesting that Emperor Palpatine's grand plan may have actually worked at the end of Episode IX.

In The Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine hopes to convince Rey to kill him, turn her into a Sith Lord, and succeed as the Emperor of the Dark Side. Palpatine might have failed to do so in Episode IX, but this new fan theory suggests that Darth Sidious may have actually succeeded.

According to the Redditor, some of the main evidence pointing to his theory is that Palpatine revealed that every single voice Kylo Ren ever heard in his mind was all Palpatine. At the end of the film, Rey also had voices in her head – something which the Star Wars fan takes as a sign of Palpatine.

The theory suggests that Palpatine manipulated Rey into killing Palpatine, encouraging her to do s by filling the voices of the Jedi in her mind. Now, Rey is actually possessed by Palpatine.

It's a strange theory, to say the least. But then again, fans are free to cook up whatever alternate ending they have for The Rise of Skywalker. Do you like this fan theory? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
