Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Leak Says Snoke and Palpatine are the Same

Star Wars fans have a lot of questions about Palpatine's return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. No one really expected the Sith Lord to survive the fall from the Death Star in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and yet, the Emperor is cackling his way into the third and final entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Will Palpatine return by using Sith artifacts like all the rumors say? Will he appear in a hologram? Or will he use the combined powers of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to return to the galaxy far, far away?

Lucasfilm might be keeping Episode IX's secrets close to its chest, but Making Star Wars has a new leak on The Rise of Skywalker, and it looks like it's all about Emperor Palpatine.

According to the popular Star Wars fansite, sources have said that Abrams doesn't really care how the Sith Lord returns in the movie and the director will instead focus on how the lead heroes have to deal with Palpatine's return. If this leak is true, then this means that fans won't really have to expect questions about how Palpatine makes his return to be answered in The Rise of Skywalker. It won't really be an important facet of the movie.

However, fans are going to learn more about the origin of another Star Wars villain – Snoke. The fansite says that Palpatine is going to reveal that he's been behind the Star Wars sequel trilogy baddie all along, claiming that "I am Snoke!"

If the leak proves to be true, then The Rise of Skywalker will have a whole lot of explaining to do.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
