Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Image Offers Close Up Look At Knights Of Ren

If there's one thing that people are looking forward to in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it would have to be the Knights of Ren. After all, director J.J. Abrams has already teased on the mysterious characters playing a larger role in Episode IX. Luckily, we now have a closer look at Kylo Ren's sometime companions in a new image released by Empire Magazine.

Empire revealed an exclusive new look at the Knights of Ren that will appear in the magazine's upcoming November issue. Check it out below.

The context of the photo isn't revealed but we're guessing the Knights of Ren are awaiting orders with the weapons at the ready. Interestingly, the image also confirms that the Knights all wear masks that are fairly similar to Kylo's but could this mean they are also paying tribute to Darth Vader? We'll find out for sure later this year.

The return of the Knights of Ren is a welcome one considering that Rian Johnson did away with the characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Nevertheless, Abrams insists that Johnson's work never affected his plans for The Rise of Skywalker.

"I never found myself trying to repair anything," he said. "If I had done VIII, I would have done things differently, just as Rian would have done things differently if he had done VII."

And we wouldn't have it any other way. We're just glad that the Knights of Ren are back so we can finally see them in action alongside (or against) Kylo this December.

Empire's November issue will be available starting October 2. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
