Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Actress Daisy Ridley Cried After Watching the Film

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker just made its world premiere in Los Angeles this week, and apparently sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley couldn't help but feel overwhelmed and emotional after seeing the film for the very first time.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Tonight after walking the red carpet at the premiere of The Rise of Skywalker on Monday, Ridley was asked to talk about her tearful reaction when she finally got to see the cut of the third and final entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

"We all sort of sat around a bit stunned," Ridley recalled. "And then I was trying to scurry off into the car to cry and [producer] Michelle Rejwan and [screenwriter] Chris Terrio were like, 'No, go on.' I was like, 'I don't want to cry in front of you! I just want to get in the car.'"

The Rise of Skywalker must have a lot of emotional moments – which isn't a surprise given how important the film is. Not only is Episode IX supposed to serve as the final chapter in the Disney's sequel trilogy, but it's also supposed to serve as the culmination of the entire Skywalker saga.

The film is all about the Skywalker story coming to an end, and if that isn't powerful enough, then we don't know what is.

We can't be sure which exact scene moved Ridley, but we're hoping that the entire film manages to leave a dent on our hearts as Star Wars closes the chapter on one story and opens to the next.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
