Star Wars: The Mandalorian’s Penultimate Episode is Heartbreaking and Emotional

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Lucasfilm just released the seventh episode of Star Wars: The Mandalorian today to avoid conflicting with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker this weekend, and it seems like the penultimate episode's ended with a bit of a cliffhanger.

Titled "The Reckoning," the seventh episode of Jon Favreau's live-action series forces viewers to hold in their breath as it takes Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda back to Navarro. Greef Garga (Carl Weathers) sends out a transmission hoping to wager a deal with the renegade Mandalorian, offering a mission where the bounty hunter and the guild take out The Client once and for all. According to Garga, Navarro has become overrun with former Imperial troopers, and now, he needs Mando to fix things by killing the Client, securing freedom for the planet, for the Mandalorian, and most importantly, for Baby Yoda.

Mando takes the mission. The bounty hunter knows that there's no other option – he could continue running away, but there would be no end to the hunters coming for Baby Yoda unless the Mandalorian straight to the source. Mando recruits a few friends that he's made over the season. He brings in Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Kuill (Nick Nolte), and IG-11 (Taika Waititi). Together with Greef Karga, Mando and his team try to take on The Client, but things don't end well for the group when the mysterious Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) finally makes an appearance in the series.

Gideon kills the Client and his men. However, the Moff brings with him an overwhelming number of troopers, surrounding Mando, Cara Dune, and Greef Karga. Kuill tries to take Baby Yoda to the Razor Crest, but the Ugnaught fails to outrun the Moff's scout troopers, and he meets his end.

The episode comes to an end there, leaving fans lost and heartbroken. Will Mando, Cara Dune, and Greef Karga make it out of the first season alive? Will Baby Yoda be alright? Let's wait and see.
