Star Wars: The Mandalorian Actor Admits He was Warned Not to Punch Baby Yoda Too Hard

It may have been several weeks since the final episode of The Mandalorian Season 1 aired but people are still not over one important detail. In Chapter 8: Redemption, one of the Scout Troopers who found Baby Yoda actually hit him. Luckily, the Child survived the blow but the actors but that's because the actors who played the Troopers were told not to hit Baby Yoda too hard.

Adam Pally was one of the two Scout Troopers in The Mandalorian and he revealed during the Television Critics Association press tour that he got special instructions from creator Jon Favreau about the punch (via Comicbook.com).

"I remember the first take that I did when I punched it…," Pally said. "They called ‘cut' and Jon, who was watching on a monitor in his office, came down and said, ‘I just want to let you know that this is the hero [expensive puppet] and it costs, like, $5 million. I want you to hit it, but I want you to know that.'"

That's right, the Scout Troopers were not supposed to hit Baby Yoda too hard because the puppet happens to be a truly expensive one. Luckily, Pally was able to nail the scene quickly to avoid any possible damage.

They may have been somehow gentle with Baby Yoda but Pally and fellow Scout Trooper Jason Sudeikis still got some mild backlash for punching the Child. Sudeikis' former comedy group Second City hilariously called him out for the act.

We won't be seeing the same Scout Troopers anytime soon but fans can still look forward to more Baby Yoda next year. The Mandalorian Season 2 is currently in production and will premiere on Disney+ this Fall.
