Star Wars: The Last Jedi Tops the List of Hollywood’s Most Divisive Movies

It looks like Star Wars: The Last Jedi is officially one of the most divisive movies of all time.

RAVE Reviews just recently released a list of Hollywood's most divisive movies, and it looks like the second entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy has made it to the top five.

The Last Jedi was only beaten to the top by Netflix documentary Knock Down the House (1st place), Netflix comedy special Hannah Gadsby: Nanette (2nd place), documentary Hale County This Morning, This Evening (3rd place), and Warner Brothers movie American Outlaws (4th place).

The list of Hollywood's most divisive movies were made based on discrepancies in film ratings from critics and from audiences from the top 100 movies on Rotten Tomatoes. This means that most of the films in the list were lauded by critics.

Knock Down the House and Nanette were well-loved by the Hollywood critic establishment, taking in a 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences, however, did not feel the same way for both titles.

Interestingly enough, this list poses a few questions. Could the audience reviews have been affected by troll review bombing? Rotten Tomatoes had to crack down on trolls when the audience score of Captain Marvel plummeted before the film's release last year. Who's not to say that the audience reviews for these films weren't affected by trolls as well?

The Last Jedi does have its fans – unfortunately they aren't as vocal as the traditional Star Wars fans who didn't really like the way the film subverted familiar Star Wars tropes and clichés.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the rest of the Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
