Star Wars: Rey's New Lightsaber in The Rise of Skywalker Possibly Inspired By The Clone Wars Weapon

One of the coolest things about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was the great number of lightsabers that appeared in the film. In addition to Anakin Skywalker's old weapon, we also got to see Leia Organa's own lightsaber and the new one that was built by Rey. However, the yellow lightsaber is hardly a new thing in the Star Wars Universe. Interestingly, it may have been inspired by weapons that have already appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

In The Rise of Skywalker, Rey went to Tatooine to visit the old Lars moisture farm where she buried Leia and Luke Skywalker's lightsabers. She then brings out her own lightsaber which appears to been made from her old staff and it is revealed to have a yellow blade.

Sure, it's a cool weapon that somehow repurposes something Rey has had her whole life and makes it new. In addition to that, the color is a surprise. However, Comicbook.com points out that yellow lightsabers with long hilts have appeared in The Clone Wars and were used by the Jedi Temple Guards.

The weapons used by the Jedi Temple Guards are actually pikes with two blades and it is possible that Rey wields the same thing. Hopefully, we'll see more of the new lightsaber if Rey returns in future Star Wars films.
