Star Wars: Palpatine Might Play A Huge Role In Rian Johnson's Trilogy After TROS

We already know that Emperor Sheev Palpatine is set for a major comeback in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. But what are the chances that the villain will continue to play a huge role in more Star Wars movies? A new report claims that there is a possibility that Palpatine will be back in more films including Rian Johnson's upcoming trilogy.

The report from We Got This Covered cites an anonymous source confirming that Disney is interested in bringing back Palpatine after The Rise of Skywalker. This means that the Sith Lord's story could be explored in more Star Wars projects like in the films and TV shows.

But could this mean that Palpatine will show up in Johnson's own Star Wars trilogy? It would be strange to continue bringing back the Big Bad from the Skywalker Saga. For now, we're hoping that Johnson will choose to avoid the Emperor in his movies. This way, the new movies can focus on Rey and other Force users instead.

There are several ways that Palpatine could continue to appear in the future Star Wars projects. He might show up in the planned Obi-Wan Kenobi series that will air on Disney+ but we're not counting on that, either.

The return of Palpatine has been one of the most shocking revelations about The Rise of Skywalker. Although some believe that Sheev will appear as a Force ghost, there are speculations that he might have survived the fall in Return of the Jedi. Either way, the truth will be revealed later this year.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20.
