There has been a recent rumor going around that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will reveal that Rey is Han Solo's daughter from another woman, and and it seemed kind of plausible, counting that Han did leave Leia after the fall of Ben Solo. As it turns out, it's impossible for Rey to be Han's daughter, and the Lucasfilm story group's Pablo Hidalgo has come to clarify things in the timeline.
When the rumor was brought up to Hidalgo on Twitter, he replied:
When the rumor came out, a lot of people thought it was actually possible, seeing that Han is not some special Force user, and Rey is said not part of any special bloodline. Then again, it's kind of an annoying coincidence that Han would turn out to be her father. Good thing we have confirmation that it wasn't the case.
If anything, I'm okay if we never get a parent reveal, or if we did, it would not ‘complete' Rey in a way that she thought it would—much like Billy Batson's reunion with his mother in Shazam!. Everyone guesses that her mother is actually Keri Russell's Zorri Bliss, but I'm always open to reveals that no fans can predict.
Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when it hits theaters Dec. 20.
