Star Wars Offers Exciting Children’s Lesson Plan Based on Rey’s Journey in Episode IX

Now that so many families are forced to stay at home to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, Star Wars is offering unique lessons that will help foster the opportunity for children to discover and learn despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

This week, Lucasfilm's "Teaching with Star Wars" lesson is focused on the journey of the sequel trilogy hero, Rey (Daisy Ridley). Sure, the Jakku Orphan might have been accused of being a Mary Sue with the skill and talent that she was able to present in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, however, Rey's journey definitely hasn't been easy.

The "Teaching with Star Wars" lesson posted on the official Star Wars website talks about Rey's most recent adventure in Star Wars: The Force Awakens where Rey trains to become a Jedi under Leia (Carrie Fisher).

While Master Leia Organa is a patient and kind teacher, Rey still feels isolated from her friends as she focuses on her training.

The lesson plan from "Teaching with Star Wars" asks parents and mentors to encourage children to try to trace Rey's steps in Episode IX so that they can determine how the heroine finds her way despite the obstacles that she faces in the film.

Parents and mentors are made to ask their children questions that help integrate Rey's lessons into their lives. These are questions like "What choices did you make, and how does that compare to Rey's adventure?" and "What advice would you give Rey if she came to you at the beginning of the movie?"

These lessons are definitely great for young Star Wars fans, offering children the opportunity to learn and to bond with their parents.
