Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might be focused on closing the Skywalker saga, however, the upcoming sequel trilogy entry is also bringing a few new faces to the franchise, and that includes Naomi Ackie, a British actress best known for her role in Lady McBeth.
Though Lucasfilm's revealed very little about Ackie's mysterious new character in The Rise of Skywalker, fans know that the Star Wars newcomer is going to fight alongside the Resistance, and in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, the actress reveals that her character, Jannah, actually has a lot of history with the issues in the movie.
"She's fierce," Ackie said, carefully describing the characer. "She's got a lot of history involved with the issues in the film. Once you find out her story, you're rooting for her and you can understand why she's fighting."
Of course, Ackie can't really give away too much info about Jannah. The actress wouldn't want to get in trouble with Lucasfilm. Still, Ackie promises that her character is going to play a significant role in the film. After all, The Rise of Skywalker is closing the curtain on the Skywalker saga.
"It means that whatever characters [are introduced] now have to add to wrapping up the story, because we know this is the end of the Skywalker saga," Ackie said. "Her importance to the story has to be relevant — and it feels relevant, definitely, for some of the characters and for the larger picture."
Though we've yet to receive confirmation from Lucasfilm, there have been rumors going around that Jannah might end up being Lando's daughter in Episode IX. Let's wait and see.
