Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Addresses Comparisons to Sekiro

When gameplay for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was first shown, fans immediately began comparing it to games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Uncharted. Fans who were able to check out more gameplay felt that the Sekiro comparisons were apt but also thought that the game was more open than originally thought, comparing it to Metroid or Batman: Arkham. Though comparisons to other games are often seen as a bad thing, the combat designer for Jedi: Fallen Order is actually pretty pleased with them.

Speaking with Edge Magazine (via GamesRadar), lead combat designer Jason de Haras said that the comparisons to Sekiro were "badass," feeling that comparisons to a game that has gotten universal praise are a good thing.

Here is the full quote from de Haras:

"I thought it was pretty badass, and a little comforting to know that you could make this type of game without a stamina bar. They let you attack, they let you roll, they do all this for free – and then the AI will tell you if you're doing the correct thing. It just confirmed to us that you don't have to limit everything the player does; let them have a little more agency, and then let the AI give them a slap on the wrist, or a punch in the face. It was a positive thing for us to know there was a game that was similar to ours. Very similar."

Fans will be able to try the game themselves when Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order comes out on PS4 and Xbox One on November 15. The game actually looks pretty promising and it's good seeing ReSpawn work on a single-player title for once since EA once said that these kinds of games were dead, only to be proven wrong by titles like God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man.
