With the annual EA Play Live right around the corner, fans of the Star Wars franchise have been eagerly anticipating what the company has in store for the future of Star Wars video games. Last week, the gaming giant teased on Twitter that we may be getting a follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order but it's safe to say that fans aren't thrilled about it.

Now, in a shocking development, Star Wars' official EA Twitter account revealed that they'll be skipping this year's EA Play Live a week after teasing a huge announcement at the gaming spectacle which takes place on July 22nd. According to EA, they'll be sharing the announcement regarding their "vision" for the Star Wars game universe at next year's event much to the chagrin of fans who felt robbed after EA promised that they'll be "doubling down" on Star Wars titles.

It's beyond frustrating for sure but you gotta take into consideration that the pandemic had a huge effect on the gaming industry as it halted a lot of releases from other companies and not just Electronic Arts. On the flipside, EA is not the only developer licensed to create games for the Star Wars franchise but for now, all we can do really is to keep our fingers crossed.

In other news, an open-world Star Wars game is currently in the works over at Ubisoft.
