Star Wars: Episode IX’s Mark Hamill Still Has Major Concerns About Luke In The Sequel Trilogy

Star Wars: Episode IX is putting an end to the Skywalker saga, and now that the film is fast approaching its release, Mark Hamill's decided to voice some of his concerns with the way Disney's handled the Star Wars franchise in the sequel trilogy.

Sure, the Star Wars franchise isn't at all perfect (eg. Jar Jar Binks; Anakin's hatred for sand), but certain parts of the Star Wars sequel trilogy has been troubling not only the fanbase but Luke Skywalker himself.

Hamill has been promoting his role in the second season of Knightfall this week, and during a recent interview with the press (via Movie Web), the Star Wars legend decided to open up about his thoughts on how Luke has been handled in the new trilogy. Airing out his concerns, Hamill talks about how Lucasfilm missed the opportunity to gather Han, Luke, and Leia back together. The Star Wars actor also seems to dislike Luke's death, complaining that Disney killed Luke way too early.

"I just thought, Luke's never going to see his best friend again. You look at it in a self-centered way. I said that it was a big mistake that those three people would never reunite in any way. I guess I was wrong because nobody seems to care! I have to stipulate that I care, but it didn't really seem to affect the larger audience. Luke, Han, and Leia will never be together again, and I'll probably never get to work with Harrison again. Then the second thing was that they killed me off. I thought: oh, okay, you should push my death off to the last one. That's what I was hoping when I came back: no cameos and a run-of-the-trilogy contract. Did I get any of those things? Because as far as I'm concerned, the end of VII is really the beginning of VIII. I got one movie! They totally hornswoggled me."

This new set of complaints may sound like a bit of surprise to fans. Back on Monday, Hamill promised that he'd no longer talk about upcoming Star Wars film after the uproar that he caused for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Star Wars actor expressed his concerns about Luke and his dissenting opinion regarding the way the character was handled right before the premiere, stirring trouble among fans.

Though Hamill ultimately changed his mind about Rian Johnson's decisions after seeing the film, fans would use the actor's little outburst in their reviews against The Last Jedi.

Does Hamill's little rant about Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy make you worry about Episode IX? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
