One of the biggest mysteries of the year continues to be the Star Wars: Episode IX title. However, fans are hopeful that we will finally learn the highly anticipated film's subtitle at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration. But is it possible that Disney is planning to replicate how the Avengers: Endgame title was revealed last year?
In December, people finally learned that Avengers 4 would be called Avengers: Endgame. The subtitle was revealed when Disney and Marvel Studios finally unleashed the first trailer for the film. Considering how amazing the feedback was to the title reveal, there are speculations that the House of Mouse will be holding on to the Episode IX subtitle until the last minute.
In the past, the titles for the current trilogy films were announced before the release of the trailer. However, Express notes that Episode IX might take a different route after the massive response to the Endgame trailer. Although it is possible that the Episode IX trailer will finally debut at Star Wars Celebration, we might need to wait until the final moments of the teaser before learning the film's official title.
It's certainly an excruciating wait but it would make sense if Disney wants people to truly pay attention to the Episode IX trailer. Of course, fans will still analyze every single shot in the teaser but it might be a dramatic way to unveil the film's title.
There have been several speculations about the Episode IX title, some of which are pretty obvious while newer theories suggest that it could be completely different from the previous Star Wars movies. Either way, we are looking forward to an official announcement by mid-April.
Star Wars Celebration takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago from April 11 to 15. Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20.
