Star Wars: Episode IX Kylo Ren And Rey To Engage In Time-Traveling Duel

There's a lot of excitement building up over Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Fans are looking forward to the inevitable battle between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in Episode IX. The two shared a connection in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and now everyone's eager to see how the wayward son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) might confront the Resistance's new heroine.

While most fans expect Rey and Ren to show off new Force moves in the film, a new rumor suggests that the two are going to engage in a "Force Flash" lightsaber fight in The Rise of Skywalker.

According to this new rumor running around online (via Inverse), Rey and Kylo Ren are going to get into a lightsaber fight in the middle of a "Force Flash." A "Force Flash" is something that allows Force Users to travel across planets like a long-range beam in Star Trek. This means that Rey and Kylo Ren are going to have a time travel battle in the movie.

Time travel might seem a bit foreign to the Star Wars franchise, however, the concept was recently introduced in Star Wars canon. In Star Wars Rebels' episode "The World Between Worlds," Ezra Bridger finds himself in a region between time and space. This allows the Star Wars Rebel protagonist to Save Ahsoka Tano from death in her duel with Darth Vader a year before the events of the episode. Ahsoka ends up surviving because of Ezra's time travel.

Though a time-traveling lightsaber fight might seem ridiculous, it is possible. Let's just wait and see.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
