Star Wars Confirms Yoda Knew About Order 66 but Didn't Believe It

There is little doubt that the betrayal of the Clone Troopers was one of the most devastating twists in the Star Wars Universe. However, it looks like there was at least one Jedi who almost had the means to prevent it. A new book has confirmed that Yoda was somehow aware that Order 66 would happen but he didn't believe the vision he saw.

Star Wars has recently published the anthology book Stories of Light and Dark, which includes several tales from the point of view of different characters. One particular story by Jason Fry serves as an adaptation of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode Ambush from the first season.

The episode already focuses on Master Yoda as he goes on a mission with three Clone Troopers. However, the story reveals that Yoda actually had a vision from the Force that warned him about Darth Sidious' Order 66.

In the tale, Yoda ponders about the Clones, who he finds disturbing since they are children "made for war" and are seen as "disposable" by their own makers. Interestingly, Yoda also questions the Clones' obedience which he views as a flaw.

At one point, Yoda meditates and is given a Force vision of "another presence - one that felt like a vast storm in the Force, full of malice and greed." This was clearly connected to the Clone Army but Yoda worried that the Jedi would be distracted by glimpses of the future. Unfortunately, he didn't believe in ancient prophecies and only realized what would happen when it was all too late.
