Star Wars Concept Art Imagines a David Bowie-Inspired Alien Pilot


No other musician probably has the same connection to science fiction like David Bowie does, so it would make sense that Ziggy Stardust would have had some kind of homage in a Star Wars film. What's great is, some concept art from The Rise of Skywalker actually reveals a Bowie-inspired pilot dubbed Star Man.

Besides the thin frame, we also have a hairstyle similar to Bowie's in the cover of Aladdin Sane. They even managed to make an homage to the facepaint, replacing the thunderbolt on his face to that of the moon.

Though they didn't end up bringing this pilot into the film, I can imagine that they could add him in a future Star Wars project. I mean, the way Star Wars is expanding, there's always room for a Bowie-inspired alien somewhere in the background.

For now, Lucasfilm is taking a break from the franchise, with the next box office movie set to come out in 2022. Personally, I thought the idea for one film a year was pretty neat, but after the underperformance of Solo (and the BTS problems of Rogue One), Lucasfilm has opted to go back and re-evaluate their approach to the franchise. For now, the Disney+ series looks great, but personally, I always think that Star Wars deserves the spectacle of a theatrical release.

At least, that's just my opinion.

Though the next movie may be a while, you can catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker now available on digital and Blu-Ray/DVD.
