Star Wars Celebration’s Massive 88-Foot Mural May Give Away Episode IX Spoilers

This year's Star Wars Celebration is finally heading to Chicago next month, and to add to the hype the organizers have decided to debut a massive 88-foot Mural showing the entire Star Wars saga during the opening of the convention.

2019 marks a very big year for the Star Wars franchise. Not only is Disney planning to open Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Disneyland World, but Lucasfilm is also releasing Star Wars: Episode IX – a film that will serve as the final chapter to Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy as well as the final entry in the Skywalker saga.

It's been 40 years since the Skywalker story began, and now, the narrative is finally coming to an end with Star Wars: Episode IX.

Star Wars just recently decided to give fans a glimpse of the mural on its website. Keep in mind, this is only a fraction of the 88-foot mural. Knowing that the mural is to feature events in Star Wars: Episode IX, Lucasfilm would probably want to wait to show the entire thing at Star Wars Celebration in order to prevent spoilers from leaking out to the public.

The Star Wars mural comes from artists Doug Chiang and Jason Palmer, two fans who want to create the ultimate tribute to the Star Wars franchise. Depicting the entire saga, the art piece will feature all nine entries as well as Lucasfilm's spinoff films and various animated series.

"I wanted the scale to be theatrical," Chiang shared with the site. "I felt it was important to make the mural as large as possible to mirror the cinematic experience. At 10-feet-tall and 88-feet-long, it'll be unlike anything we've done before."

We definitely can't wait to see the full piece during this year's Star Wars Celebration.

Star Wars Celebration begins on Thursday, April 11.
