Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Teaser Trailer Brings Back Captain Pike to the Final Frontier

The Star Trek franchise continues to expand on streaming television as they are working on several projects including the upcoming Strange New Worlds which will follow Christopher Pike, Number One, and Spock's adventures in the final frontier years before James T. Kirk eventually takes the captain seat. There is a lot of anticipation to the series as it will go back to the episodic roots of the classic shows. Now, we finally have our first look at the upcoming series.

Paramount+ has released the official teaser trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. While they didn't show a lot of footage, they did give us a tease of where Pike is at during the beginning of the series where he apparently secluded himself in the woods after learning his eventual fate during the second season of Discovery. Accompanied by the narration by Number One, we see him being brought back as the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise again and explore different planets in the final frontier as teased by the several locations that they showed.

You can catch the teaser trailer below:

The teaser trailer didn't really give us an idea of what the story will be about or a glimpse of the characters, but it did give us the promise that the series will be more episodic since they heavily implied that they will be visiting a lot of planets throughout the first season. Perhaps they will show more of that in the actual trailer. But based on the footage that they showed here so far, it looks like a promising series that will deliver what fans might be looking for in their Star Trek fix.

The series will star Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La'an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M'Benga.

The premiere episode was written by Akiva Goldsman with the story by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet. Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners, with Goldsman also directing the pilot. Goldsman, Kurtzman and Lumet will also serve as executive producers alongside Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, and Aaron Baiers.
