CBS All Access is set to bring back fan-favorite Star Trek characters in a new spinoff series!

The streaming service recently announced that the new series is titled Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, making it the third live-action Star Trek series. This also serves as the second spin-off from Discovery, with stars Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn reprising their roles as Captain Pike, Spock, and Number One.

Strange New Worlds will follow the trio "in the decade before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise," to explore various "new worlds around the galaxy."

"Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck's portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season," said executive vice president and head of programming for CBS All Access, Julie McNamara, in a statement. "This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek."

Alex Kurtzman points out that these three characters "have a deep history in the Star Trek canon." However, there are still "so much" stories that are yet to be told. He teased that everyone is in "for an extraordinary journey to new frontiers in the Star Trek universe."

Discovery and Picard executive producer Akiva Goldsman will pen the series premiere, from a story by him, Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet.
