Star Trek: Picard Episode 9 Teases First Season's Terrifying Conclusion

The first season of Star Trek: Picard is almost over and the penultimate episode has just confirmed that things might not end too well for Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of La Sirena.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Star Trek: Picard Episode 9! Proceed with caution!

In Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 1, it doesn't take long before Picard is forced to reveal his secret. As La Sirena and the Borg ships arrive on Soji Asha's planet, flower-like objects immediately cut the power off in the vessels. This causes everyone to crash into the planet, knocking Picard unconscious. Agnes Jurati tends to Picard and discovers his condition, which in turn forces him to confess to the crew about the abnormality in his brain.

The episode also introduces new characters like the son of Dr. Noonien Soong as well as a synth that resembles Soji. Additionally, there is a community of synths living on the planet. The synth named Sutra uses the Vulcan mind-meld to decipher the visions that Commodore Oh has passed to Jurati. It is revealed that it is a message for synths offering aid from oppression.

The synths later capture Narek but he is freed by Sutra. Once Narek escapes, Sutra calls on her fellow synths and pushes them toward accepting the alliance with Commodore Oh. As the episode ends, the Commodore and her Warbirds are shown approaching the planet.

At this point, it looks like things could get crazy in the series finale. But what will happen to Picard? The truth will be revealed next week.

Star Trek: Picard Episode 9 is currently streaming on CBS All Access.
