Star Trek: Lower Decks Q Cameo Revealed Picard's Future

There is little doubt that Star Trek: Lower Decks is already awesome on its own but things got even better in the latest episode Veritas when Q suddenly made an appearance. After all, it's been some time since Trekkies have been the Star Trek: The Next Generation character in all his glory. Interestingly, Q made sure to confirm he can see the future by dropping some spoilers from Star Trek: Picard.

In Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 1 Episode 8, Ensign Brad Boimler revealed that the crew occasionally has to deal with Q, who randomly shows up with bizarre challenges for them. Although the crew would usually end up trying to deal with the villain's strange puzzles, they simply weren't up for Q's shenanigans by the end of Veritas.

When Q once again shows up and tries to challenge the crew Boimler and fellow Ensigns Beckett Mariner, Sam Rutherford, and D'Vana Tendi, Mariner tells him to get lost. Q attempts to convince them to participate but Mariner orders him to "go find Picard." At this point, Q says, "Oh Picard! He's no fun. He's always quoting Shakespeare, he's always making wine..."

Hey, we already know that but the rest of the crew of the Cerritos don't know that yet. After all, the animated series takes place in 2380, a full five years before Picard decided to retire from Starfleet to become a winemaker. Needless to say, Q revealed to the crew what Picard would be doing in the future but they were obviously too exasperated to care.

The latest episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks is currently streaming on CBS All Access.
