Star Trek: Lower Decks Official Trailer Sends the Crew Out for Action

It's time to see the Star Trek Universe from a completely different perspective. The official trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks is finally here and it reveals just how difficult and fun it could be to be part of a starship crew even if you don't get to hang out with the major players.

The trailer opens with Ensign Boimler reading out his "Captain's log." However, it isn't long before he is discovered by Ensign Mariner, who teases him for his ambition.

Soon, it is revealed that being a part of the support crew isn't as fun as it sounds. The support crew of USS Cerritos find themselves having to do all the dirty work while the ones in the higher floors get to relax. Not surprisingly, they are also responsible for fighting off attackers so it's safe to say we'll be seeing a lot of action next month.

The description for Lower Decks reads as follows:

"Developed by Emmy Award winner Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites), Star Trek: Lower Decks, a new half-hour animated comedy series, focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet's least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos, in 2380. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies."

Star Trek: Lower Decks features the voices of Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero. The series will premiere on CBS All Access on August 6.
