Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 2 Reveals the Destructive Anomaly

The second episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 is finally here and it didn't waste time in helping us understand the threat ahead. Episode 2, which was conveniently titled Anomaly, we finally learned more about the anomaly and just how destructive the anomaly it could be now that it made things personal for Cleveland 'Book' Booker!

In Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 1, the Discovery crew tries to assist a space station that has suddenly lost control. As they are trying to help, the crew also learns about the destruction of the planet Kwejian which has been devastated by an unseen force. The damage is so great that it managed to kill everyone on the planet, leaving Book as its only survivor (as far as we know).

In the second season, Michael Burnham and the rest of the crew decided to investigate the force that destroyed Book's planet. Chief Engineer Paul Stamets and Sylvia Tilly theorize that a gravitational singularity similar to a black hole could be responsible. They decide to track down an anomaly based on their analysis with the Discovery using its Spore Drive to stay a safe distance away.

In the meantime, Stamets and Book move closer to the anomaly using Book's unique, shape-shifting vessel and although they acquire important new information about the anomaly, it's not all good news. Tilly discovers that this crisis is even more dangerous to the resurgent Federation than they expected.

The thing about the anomaly is that although it initially looks like a black hole, it's also very different as it is so much more unpredictable. Will the Discovery crew manage to figure out how to deal with this anomaly before it's too late?

Episode 2 is now streaming on Paramount+. The next episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 will air on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
