Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Pays Tribute to The Late Aron Eisenberg

If you tuned in to the latest episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, there's a huge chance you were blown away by all the Federation starships that appeared in Die Trying. However, if you took a closer look at one particular ship, you would see that the series actually paid a touching tribute to the late Aron Eisenberg.

In Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 5, the Discovery crew finally finds the new Starfleet base. Their arrival is marked by the crew reacting in awe and excitement to the several starships docked at the base. Amazingly, one of those ships just happened to bear a familiar name. Check it out below.

That's right, it's the U.S.S. Nog proudly bearing the name of Eisenberg's beloved Star Trek: Deep Space Nine character. It's a heartwarming tribute that executive producer Alex Kurtzman confirmed.

"We promised to honor the legacy of both Nog and the late Aron Eisenberg," Kurtzman told TrekCore, "And it seemed fitting to name a starship after a character who exemplified the possibility of resilience after a period of darkness. Hopefully, we'll see more of the U.S.S. Nog as it helps Starfleet build a brighter future."

We're loving the idea that there could be more of U.S.S. Nog in the third season of Star Trek: Discovery. We'll be keeping an eye out for this starship in future episodes.

Eisenberg is best known for playing Nog in Deep Space Nine. He passed away on September 21, 2019 due to heart failure. He was 50 years old.
