What Happened To Il Nam In Squid Game?

In the final episode for Squid Game, Il Nam revealed the truth to Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-Jae) regarding his involvement in the game.

He said that he was the one that came up with the idea after realizing that both the rich and the poor are unhappy with their lives.

Since he wanted everyone to have fun, he came up with the games. However, he didn't explain why he decided to come up with games that are meant to kill other people.

Shortly after his shocking revelation, Il Nam took his last breath. His death made it impossible for Gi-Hun to ask him even more questions.

However, the YouTuber is convinced that Il Nam could still be alive, and he might have just faked his death as part of another game.

Is Il Nam Still Alive?

Heavy Spoilers claimed the fact that Il Nam died at exactly midnight made them think that he faked his death.

"Well, it's an idea that stuck with me since I first watched the show. Everything just seemed so neat and the fact that things happen down to the exact second seems very, very suspicious," they said.

There are also speculations that the water that Il Nam drank in his final scene could've been laced with poison that takes exactly 25 minutes to kill someone or sedate them.

The YouTuber pointed out how the scene between Gi-Hun and Il Nam was executed, starting off with the former receiving an invitation to go to the latter's place.

If Gi-Hun didn't go to the building where Il Nam was confined, the latter wouldn't have been able to play his game.

The clock showing 11:35 p.m. also seemed suspicious. After all, it was shown on screen just before Gi-Hun gave Il Nam a glass of water.

And the camera focused on the glass of water that Il Nam placed beside him on the bed after he finished sipping from the cup.

Fans might question why Il Nam's heart stopped if he's still alive. And the YouTuber said that it's possible that whatever is in Il Nam's drink registered his heart rate so low that it becomes undetectable.

The YouTuber added that the position of Il Nam's bed looks pretty fishy.

After all, he's on a hospital bed, but he's not inside the hospital. Instead, he's in a building that has a view of the street across from him.

Heavy Spoilers claimed that Il Nam and the Front Man, who was also in the room when he "died," must have kidnapped and drugged the homeless man so that the elderly character could play one last game with Gi-Hun.

The YouTuber claimed that the water shown in the final episode for Squid Game must have been symbolic. After all, Il Nam previously used water to get himself out of trouble.

In one of the earlier episodes, Il Nam seemingly peed his pants to make himself look weak. This way, he wasn't picked by the other players in the marble competition.

If everything was planned and Il Nam wanted to compete with Gi-Hun so that he could fake his death, then this theory seems to make some sense.

Several theories regarding Il Nam have been circulating since Squid Game premiered last month.

After all, no one predicted that he was behind the game. And the fact that he was able to fake his death once paved the way for audiences to think that he could fake his death again.
