Squid Game creator Hwang Dong Hyuk is reaping the rewards of his success after Hollywood’s top niche agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), signed the director.

Besides the cast, whose career skyrocketed globally because of the Netflix series, the 51-year-old filmmaker has achieved a new milestone in his career.

Creative Artists Agency Taps Squid Game Director Hwang Dong Hyuk

In an exclusive report cited by Deadline, the South Korean director is now the newest talent of CAA.

Joining him is his producing partner Kim Ji Yeon, who also worked with him in Squid Game.

CAA is one of the top-tier talent agencies in the U.S that represents Hollywood’s A-lister.

Some of their well-known talents include Tom Hanks, Ellen DeGeneres, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Pitt, award-winning director Steven Spielberg and more.

Interestingly, South Korean stars were also represented by the Creative Artists Agency, such as Kang Dong Won of Broker, as well as Jung Ho Yeon and Lee Jung Jae of Squid Game.

Apart from the record-breaking success of the K-series, the duo is working on a new film, a Korean-language movie, K.O. Club, also known as Killing Oldmen Club.

In addition to this, both Hwang Dong Hyuk and Kim Ji Yeon are set to bring more surprising Korean-language projects to the U.S.

Squid Game Season 2 to Squid Game Competition

In just a week, Netflix dropped two surprising bombshell news about the Korean series.

First, the streaming giant unveiled a teaser featuring the iconic creepy doll known as Young Hee, hinting that Squid Game will return for a sequel.

It was followed by Hwang Dong Hyuk’s message to viewers, expressing his deep gratitude to everyone who supported the series.

In addition, he also dishes out what to expect in Squid Game season 2.

He mentioned that Lee Byung Hun and Lee Jung Jae, who played The Frontman and player 456 Seong Gi Hoon, will be returning for the second season.

In addition, “the man in the suit with ddakji” played by Gong Yoo, “might be back.”

Lastly, he revealed the new villain, played by Young Hee’s boyfriend, Cheol Su.

The second news that shocked the public is the real-life Squid Game.

As obtained by Soompi, Netflix will introduce a new reality competition inspired by the Korean series.

Titled Squid Game: The Challenge, the upcoming program, is set to be the biggest reality show ever with the biggest prize at stake.

Like the nine-part episode series, 456 competitors are set to battle out and finish the competition featuring the traditional children themed game.

Of course, no one will end up dying like in Squid Game, but the cash prize is a whopping 4.56 million dollars.

With this, Brandon Riegg, the senior vice president of Netflix, said that they will be transforming Hwang Dong Hyuk’s creation “into reality.”

The streaming giant’s VP also hints that Squid Game: The Challenge will be thrilling and entertaining, just like the series.

“The biggest competition ever will be filled with nerves and twists, and 456 real competitors will set off on his journey,” he said, adding, “We hope fans of the drama will join this fascinating and unpredictable journey.”

To top this all off, Netflix has begun searching for 456 English-speaking contestants who will become the official participants of the game.
